Burning Building Fireman Cake

I have been waiting to blog this cake for so long! Well really about a week or so. Lisa and I made this cake for Captain Bryant Tillery of the Dallas Fire Department who retired after 47 1/2 years of service. We spent a lot of time on the details and just loved every bit of it. Our favorite part you ask? The dry ice we used to look like smoke. and the fire engines. and the building. and well everything! We wish you the best of luck on your retirement and thanks for the opportunity to make such an awesome cake!

Dallas Stars Cake

Okay Hockey fans! I normally get super excited over Dallas Cowboys cakes, obviously:), but I was stoked to make this Dallas Stars one because they are pretty awesome and I was dying to make a Hockey player character. Everything on top is sculpted out of fondant and Lisa made the coolest Dallas Stars logo with fondant as well. The birthday boy was turning 31 so we made that the jersey number with his name on the back.

Rock n’ Roll Cake

I am sure you have noticed that we really love to sculpt! It was so much fun making all these band pieces for this cake and it just made us SO happy looking at it when it was done. I mean what six year old wouldn’t love this cake? Happy Birthday Bo, I hope it totally Rocked!

Grease Cake

We are HUGE Grease fans, seriously, we were watching this movie way before an appropriate age singing all the songs and totally wishing we were Sandy and hopelessly devoted. In the end we learned you should never change yourself for someone else so of course it is a classic. When this cake was ordered I was literally squealing on the other end of the phone, I knew right away what I wanted to do. We loved having the good cheerleader with the bad boy and making these characters was so much fun. It was also the first time we got to use our edible printer to make the Report Card Birthday sign which turned out so cute. And yes, it is totally edible! So thank you Michelle for ordering this cake and making our day!

We ALL loved the cake…I mean, who wouldn’t?

Blue Ruffle Flower Cake

This cake was a lot of fun to make and very different for me. A friend of mine was having a birthday party and I wanted to take advantage of opportunity to do something new. Lisa and I brainstormed some fun ideas on how we can make a more vintage looking cake. In the end we just stared at it for an hour and just started making ruffles, flowers, and pearls. I love how it turned out, I love that it is different for me and I can’t wait for us to do more like it.

Hi, I was trying to ruffle flowers yesterday and it just was not working for me! Could you help at all? any tips… i must be missing something!

Hey Kylie! The best way I have found is to make ruffle petals. Each flower is a few ruffled pieces. I like to ruffle the edge perfectly and then press the bottom part together. I than layered them to make the flower. I hope that makes sense and helps you some!
